Epicor Software Corporation, a global leader in business software solutions for manufacturing, distribution, retail and services organizations, has announced that Sencon UK Ltd, a leading developer of sensor and control systems for the metal packaging industry, has chosen the next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution Epicor ERP version 10. The solution will be used to enhance visibility across Sencon UK’s business processes from sales to stock and manufacturing control, and support its continued growth overseas.
Established in 1976, Sencon has R&D and manufacturing facilities in the USA and the UK, with a sales and support office in Hong Kong. Sencon UK’s sales and support region covers the worldwide metal packaging industry outside North and South America and now faces the challenge of effectively dealing with many customer demands and a vast range of products across the globe. The sheer amount of data the international business creates meant that Sencon UK began to outgrow its existing system and it became necessary to improve efficiency and visibility of internal processes by bringing together a number of individual systems in a single integrated ERP solution. Replacing a variety of separate customer relationship management (CRM) and business management software solutions, Epicor ERP will support financial services, CRM, stock control, manufacturing control, project control, as well as services, repairs and after sales, all within one system.
“As a business we face many challenges because the vast majority of what we produce and sell, and our customers, are based overseas,” said Mark Watts, finance manager at Sencon UK Ltd. “With very variable customer demands and a broad range of products, it can be difficult to keep track of all the information as it happens with all our global customers. With Epicor ERP we now have the ability to look after all those people in the same manner – both before and after a sale.”
Epicor ERP overcomes these challenges by bringing vertical specific functionality onto one platform with a single shared database. This ensures that near real-time information is always available to users, whatever task they are performing.
Watts continued: “Our aim is to take the business to cross the £10 million turnover threshold within the next five years. We feel that Epicor will be able to help us become the ‘go-to’ supplier.”
“Businesses need to operate in the most streamlined way possible, with well managed stock and delivery operations,” said Steve Winder, regional vice president for Epicor Software in the UK and Ireland. “With Epicor ERP, we are able to help Sencon UK achieve two things; firstly, ensuring that their customer records are accurate and up to date, and secondly, improving internal efficiency because they will gain visibility into exactly what’s happening within the business at any given moment in time. As a result they will be poised for continual international growth.”
Epicor ERP was selected over several key competitors as Sencon recognised it as software that understood manufacturing companies and that was the most tailored for businesses that have complex products and after sales.
